alright, so on my new bass (curbow 6 string) uses a dual truss rod neck. i want to adjust the string height but only from about the 15th fret upwards, at the nut, the strings are at a great height, just high enough to not buzz, but low enough to tap easily.
i want to adjust the high end action lower, more suitable for tapping, adjusting the action at the bridge will cause buzz all up the neck.

so will (i think its) tightening the truss rods which will push the neck basckwards just push the strings closer to the neck above 15th fret?

also, should i take it to get set up for something like this? i have no exptrience with adjusting even single truss rods

The best advise I could give would be, seeing as you have no experience adjusting a truss rod, take it to a good repair man. Ask him if you can watch what he's doing, if he says no, go to one who will let you watch and explain to you what he's doing. This way you can learn.

Adjusting a dual truss rod neck is much trickier than adjusting a single rod neck, and those can have their quirks also.

Go to a shop, don't even dare touch it if you don't know waht you're doing, I did the same when I first got my 6er.

Plus I don't think it is recommended to only adjsut one truss rod, unless I'm mistaken you should adjust them both equally.

I was wondering when this sort of thread would come from you Funky.

Anyway, here is a useful link that should answer some of your questions.

Always remember with dual truss rods to adjust them exactly the same amount unless you are trying to get a curve in the neck.

ahaha, thanks hobbes, yeah i really want to get more into tapping now, thats hard with tension that tight and action that high.

bascially want it as low as possilbe while still being able to play normally... i don't know if that's possible while having no buzz

It is possible to have low action and no buzz. I have pretty much got that on both my 4 strings.

If you are doing the tapping side you might also want to consider using a lighter guage of string.

It will make it easier as there will not be as much tension.
