help with amps

my bass player knows very little about bass and hes lookin into amps for some gigs... so its gotta be loud... he doesnt really know the difference between good sounding and bad sounding... hes self taught... or at least you could call it that.... will this amp have a good sound... if not wats a better quality amp for less than 300 bucks?

it's a pretty sterile sounding amp. (assuming its just like the 1200) i had the bx1200 (do they even make it anymore?) and it was great for a first band amp. it was loud enough to be heard over the drummer and it didn't sound all too bad. behringer gets a lot of bad rep around here, but i'd take it with a grain of salt.
