I love them. Poor college kid who loves new string sound can't afford new strings every couple months. Elixers last a good 6.

i think the next pack of strings i buy will be elixers, but i'm afraid i won't like them, or they won't suit me. i alternate finger style and pick and that'll wear down the coating. also, they might not get the brightness and rich mids that i get from my beloved Ernie Balls, but i'm going to try them because i love the idea of long lasting strings.

I alternated finger and pick, and the coating didn't start to peel for a while. Elixers are also very midsy... not as ballsy as some strings, but EQing will fix that.

I can vouch for Elixers. My roundwounds of choice.

they kick major ***, the whole 'longer life' thing isn't just a gimmick they sound great...

but yeah picking might wear the coating faster

The carvin poweramp is actually pretty amazing. Very steady and clean.

As for my disgusting appearance, it's been a long week. A mixture of work and getting blood taken and class and papers and exams boiled down into me finally taking pics of this gear at 12 AM while I'm covered with humidity.

Sweet stuff.

Good call on the Elixirs, too. I'm still using the strings that came with my Ibanez (17 months now  ). It's about time to change them, though.

Me too. I don't think mine need to be changed yet. They're still sounding pretty nice.
We got our basses, which happens to be the same bass, at around the same time. SUPER COOL! :D

Mine were fine right up until, like, 4 days ago. They just started to sound dull. Maybe I'll just re-EQ my amp and be good to go.

fretless is almost done. I put it together last night to see how it plays. It plays very nicely, but i still needto wire up the electronics. I don't know where the soldering iron is at the moment, but it will be done in a few days.

no no man, i've had my IBAANEZ' for 15 + months not my wick lol i only had that wick for 3 days it was a vintage pre 96 with a pure wngee neck..although the neck was nice and thin i could not STAND 1) thestrings on it 2) the softness of the pure wengee and the grain of the wood made it look like someone had run a knife up and down the back of the neck it bothered me a lot...so im not searching all of the GTA for a newer wick with an ovangkol neck with a bubinga body but to no avail NO ONE HAS THEM :upset:

oh hey JP why don't you show us all up with some shots of ur collection :P?

That's pretty average, actually.

I see you live in Peterborough area; that would be why you think it's a bit high.

There's a lot of close competition in that area (and since many are chain corporations, even more so), and everyone's always fighting each other's prices.

I pay $40 for a pack of 4-string EB's, and $50 for a 6 string pack (I dont use the B).

There's chains in my area, did you say? We don't have any chains in Peterborough, as far as I know. But the stores here are competitive.

$80 for Elixers!? That's ridiculous.
