lol.
Anyway, i have around $500 = £266.
I play drums.
I want to start playing bass.
I want sturdy and hardwearing bass, I need to last ages unless I take it really seriously.
I already have an amp.
Genre wise, im into everything.
Any ideas ? Can you bass smarties help me out ?
Thanks.

Fender MIM Jazz or P Bass should sort you out for that price, should sort you out quite nicely.
Might even be worth looking into Schecters as well

Save about another £150 and go for a fender jap '62 jazz reissue, awesome basses, better than MIA (american made) if you ask me.
Go to http://www.bassworld.co.uk it's a good place to find second hand gear, the for sale forum has some real good stuff.

Buy used. I started out on drums and later began bass, and bought a Yamaha BB4N III for around 250 Canadian. It retails for 500, so I was happy with my purchase.
Srsly, don't underestimate what you can get used.

Indeed, I got my thunderbird for £250 used with a custom made hard case and extra crap.
Saved me about £150 and it was mint condish
