im not looking fo a huge amount of heardroom 500 watts will do
any recomendations will do

well i dont intend to buy it now i was hoping someone could recomend a model
and i was also hoping someone could explain how the hell to use one asa bass amp.

well, look into the QSC RMX850 for future reference then. You need some type of a preamp or a few select types of pedals to drive a power amp. you can't just plug into a power amp and play.
