Can you recommend me an album that will provide me with a lot of enjoyment for a few months or so? Preferably a newish release and something not too experimental. I only ask because I always enjoy albums of this nature that you recommend.

Anyone else can recommend me something as well, but I'll probably only check it out if I really like the sound of it.

Totally Rad - Shark Attack Day Camp

I just may upload it to the mailing list. It's this really funny/strange album with video game-ish melodies.

Worth checking out.

Hmmm... okay, well I'll try to keep it not too experimental, but challenging enough that it'll provide satisfaction for awhile.

The first thing that came to mind was The Knife - Silent Shout. This album was a real grower for me, and I'm enamored with it now. It's dark, electro-pop. The vocals evolve throughout the record by being processed and manipulated in new ways, which gives each track it's own distinction.

Thomas Strønen - Pohlitz. This may be a little more experimental than you were looking for, but it's still gorgeous. Strønen is primarily a percussionist (from the bands Food & Humcrush), and this album just expands upon his other work. Here's a blurb from the label site:
All the material is written, arranged and produced by Thomas, but is, originally enough, a percussion record completely without ordinary drums. The music is improvised, with focus on details and melodic elements and with references to minimalists like (early) Steve Reich, traditional Gamelan music and fellow Norwegian Arne Nordheim´s classic electronic music.

Dub Tractor - Hideout. This record, out on City Centre Offices, is soft electronic pop with a subtle glazing of shoegaze overtop. Some gorgeous moments to be found here.

Various - The World is Gone. This one is a big electronic album for this year. After releasing a few hugely successful 7"s in the UK last year, this is their debut record on XL. Just check out the clips, they do some interesting things and never tire and resign into using the same sound repeatedly. http://www.various.co.uk/

There's a few you could try, all of 'em are '06 releases. Hope you find one that suits you well!

Oh, sorry. The band's name is Various. They were originally going by Various Production - but to make matters more confusing they dropped the Production for their debut.

Here's an mp3 to go along with the material found on Various' website. http://www.dustedmagazine.com/features/destined2006/variousproduction.mp3 It's the song, "Hater"
