Hopefully this will benefit me and others saving up for their own kit.
I'm just wondering how much money you guys have spent so far on your current kit. Just post a pic of your kit, and specs, and say how much it was worth.

A few things have changed.
http://www.marc.crysisplanet.com/hats2.jpg
I also have a wuhan china above the aux hats, and instead of cb hi-hats on those, i have B8's. I also moved the ride cymbal, but that doesn't matter.

5-Piece CB SP Series Drums - Used for $100 with snare, hi-hat, and 1 cymbal stand.
B8 cymbal pack (14" hats, 14" crash, 16" crash, 20" ride) boom stand, straight stand - $350

I got a 'dealers' price on my kit, the shells/hardware of which are retailing just over $16,000AU

Add to that my current range of cymbals (with more to come) worth over $6,000AU and Damo is glad that he gets this stuff cheap!

My kit is OLD to start off with. Anyways, I got the basic 5-piece (unsure of the make except the snare, which is a Tama Swingstar) with an old Ludwig pedal, a crappy hi-hat stand, the 14" Westbury hats, 18" Zildjian Scimitar crash/ride, 18" Sabian B8 crash/ride, and an old crappy pair of of DX hi hats (which I have now warped into mini-chinas ^_^) for $230 Canadian.

Of the stuff I've bought myself, the moto-style Gibraltar throne was $40 Canadian, the DW 7002 $265, and the Ludwig hi-hat stand was $80.

Eh... all I know is I'm saving up to get a Sonor 3005 and AAX cymbal pack. If I basically put everything away I'll have enough next summer. ^_^

just hope you learn to appreciate what you have.

i live in a "rich" suburb... you know, business people parents of a single child. my school parking lot is full of lexuses and escalades, which mommy and/or daddy bought for their oh-so-special kid. these kids are the ones that get everything handed to them... but what happens when mommy and daddy kicks 'em out? they're ****ED!

I agree fully. I absolutely HATE pampered kids.

I get a good amount of money from my parents, but at the very least I earn it (~15 hours/month working with two high needs foster kids) unlike most of these kids who just get everything they want without abandon. I've paid for 95% of my drum supplies AND I'm paying for my lessons.

Kids need to learn early to be self-reliant and earn their cash.

Hell yeah. I hate spoiled kids.

Theres this spoiled kid I know that tries to brag or show off what he's got when his parents handed it all to him. That totally pisses me off.

My parents chose having a nice house over having nice stuff in the house, and now the house is worth more then triple what they paid for it 9 and a bit years ago, so it totally worked out.

As for working, Im getting my new drums tonight instead of tomorrow, they will be max 1650 CAD (theyre used, so Im obviously going to barter)with a bunch of extras. I will post pics if I can tonight, otherwise tomorrow.

My Sonor 2001 was $650, and my ride, hi-hats, and crash bundled together were $300 (wuhan hats and ride, and an istanbul crash). Since then, I have bought a AA crash ($138), New Beats ($250), some stands and plenty of heads.

Just the stands and the gear, my total is roughly $1400.

Oh yeah, I just put in an order for a 2002 crash off of mass music. So make that $1580.

I've paid for everything on my drumset including transportation to and from the music store (city bus) Even when i bought my drumset, my parents payed for half, but then later on they said it was too loud and since it's half theirs they can get rid of it so i payed them back the other half.

Wheras kids that aren't spoiled will be successful to some extent.

I have never had pocket money, if I want to earn money I work, the most I get from my parents is food, clothes, a roof over my head and a good upbringing, I'm grateful for that.
You know what pisses me off, when kids say they are going to inherit their parent's business so they don't need good grades, what a load of ****.

I paid $80 CDN for my kit.

yep, some guy had left it in a storage place for too long, and so they started selling his stuff off. My dad's friend had connections, so we got it for cheap.

It's an old Pearl kit, an Export, I think, I'm not sure, and I think it was made sometime in the 70's

The kit consists of

14" x 22" bass
8" x 12" tom
9" x 13" tom x2
14" x 14" floor tom
5" x 15" Premier snare
plus a really old Zildjian crash

and that's what I got with it

My good friend/old old drummer gave me his old hi-hats, but I am still sans ride. I should be getting one soon, however.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i215/Kenny_Fever/WaltzDizzy020.jpg

in that picture, that's basically my kit with my old drummer's crash, ride, snare and hi-hats.

As you may or may not be able to tell, drums are not my main instrument, although I've been playing them a little bit here and there for almost a year now, and I'm actually playing drums in a band now
