way ahead of you. I've had my dream kit in my mind for quite some time now... Heres the basic setup... I'll post back with more detail soon...
http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dwdreamyh3.jpg
Bass drums are 18x20
Cymbals: not too sure about. Currently I own
13" K/Z combo hi hats (early-mid 80's)
18" K Custom Ride (consider using this instead of a 22". My 18" has a lot more power and volume than most 22")
19" A Custom Crash
10" ZXT Splash
16" Stagg Crash
13" China (maybe world percussion?)
So I'd probably go with Zildjian... or Sabian.
Axis X Shortboards. best pedal in the world... none of that A longboard crap
Peace Paragon in Aqua Marine
22x18
10x8
12x9
16x14
13" or 14" Peace Hand hammered snare (and/or Bigdog snare)
Already got my dream cymbals:
Masterwork:
14" Resonant hihat
15" Resonant crash
16" Custom crash
16" Thalles crash
17" Resonant crash
22" Alesta ride
Aquarian heads, bigdog hardware, bigdog bags, Balbex sticks.

I wouldn't really have a dream "setup" as much as I'd have a series of dream "setups."

I know what you mean... it depends on what you're playing. Ideally I'd love to have every drum size possible, in every wood possible, eveyy ply possible (you get the idea)... But I can't afford it. :(
For most things though, i like the kit in my above post.

Makes sense. I'd like to have at least two kits in the end, though...mostly for different heads and beaters.

I knew that was coming. I liked the idea before i even knew who peart was. Besides it'll be used for acousto-techno breakdowns and funky beats.
The whole kit is a fusion of modern and traditional. From the traditional routes of the K and HHX cymbals and the shells to the modern sounds of the roland pads and Meinl Gen X cymbal. Its all a fusion of cultures.

ok so Drum Phil is peart, and SlimJim is portnoy... I'm waiting for a bozzio or donati "toms are elevated a meter above the kit" :p
Let's just say I'd kill several times over for Bozzio's kit.
:smash:
Heh, yeah, to be honest... Bozzio's would be my dream kit. It's not like I'd use it like he does, but I'd strip it and use it as, maybe, a 12 or 13 piece. Or six. All at once. With the help of five of my clones.

This software won't work with percussion, so I simply drew mine in Paint, labelling a few pieces that might be hard to differentiate.
http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/3339/kitbt8.png (http://imageshack.us)
- Toca Limited Edition Burl Oak 11 ¾” and 11” congas (already covered)
- Toca Limited Edition Burl Oak bongos
- Djembe (so far the LP799X Giovanni Series Galaxy; if not, then a Mountain Percussion djembe—great for the money)
- Pearl Omar Hakim Signature Snare Drum
- Sabian Tranquility Gong (want to attach it to my ridiculous cymbal mount concept)
- Sabian AAX El Sabor Picante 16” and 18” Hand Crashes
- Paiste Signature Series Dark Energy MKI 20” Ride Cymbal
- Zildjian A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hat Pair
- DW 9502LB Remote Cable Hi-Hat Stand
- LP1210 Granite Block/Mount
- Triangle (who cares what brand it is; it’s a triangle)
- Cowbell (haven’t researched yet)
- Clave and pedal (also haven’t researched yet)
- All drum stands
- Crazy and awesome custom cymbal rack concept
Oh yeah, forgot to include this in the picture, but I want the Roland HDP Handsonic 10 as well.

bow2sean thats one of my fav kits. The most basic you can get while still using all limbs (well, suppose you could take the ride out)... but 2 piece can be so much fun.
Just looking at Tsukigans kit... he's building a floor that is a giant light bulb, he has a hi hat without any pedal, all cymbals are floating in space (I'd like that!), his BD pedal doesn't reach, and one of his toms has no legs...
(just thought I'd point that out :p

Haha thanks guys, it really makes me feel good about my left-handed-ness. It's wierd though, because I'm kind of a switch between left and right. I'll have this kit done pretty soon. I'm retiring from the whole local metal scene (with the exception of occasional jams and maybe shows) and I'm hunkering down and working on all the stuff I've never had time for. This is the kit I should have by next month. My new jobs pretty good.
Not sure on the drums yet, still wondering what level to go with. There's a Catalina Club, Renown Maple, and a DW at my local shop that have these dimensions (depths of toms not sure on). Lots of choices! I've started looking into DW edge snares if I can find one used, but I've only heard them recorded pro and that's not 100 percent. Sorry to be boring and not have a crazy dream kit, but after a few months of looking around I'm really happy that I'll have this kit soon. Something small I can carry wherever I need to. :)

14" K Custom Dark Hats?
20" K Custom Dark Ride (Amazing for crashing)
17" K Custom Dark Crash

I did'nt pick all those K custom Darks on purpose. Originally just the ride, I've liked that for quite some time. But I really liked that crash last time I was testing 'em out. The hats are still debatable, I might go 13". Still haven't decided, that's gonna be the last purchase, as I still need to think.
I use an Iron Cobra pedal and would like to get a new hi-hat pedal. Probably another 'Cobra as everything I've read says those pedals are indestructable. Also my throne is getting near the end of it's life, diggin' those cool thrones like the one in the pic I posted.
