well simply, because you can do everything with it. Observe.

Here's what it looks like as an 8pc, with a rack.

Now lets say i didn't want to drag all that stuff, but i wanted a largeish kit... with a couple stands, who says i can't do something like this?

But maybe i don't want to bring 2 kicks.... well why not whip out the dbl pedal for something like this?

or maybe i'm just going over to my guitarist's house to do a quick idea jam... why not just bring this?

The possibilities are only as endless as your imagination.

hahaha jerk :p

On kicks, i have SuperKick1 batters (they're godly, the sk2's suck life out of kicks) over Regulators (with logos by Dave of Fender Custom Vinyl)
On toms, i have Responce2's (clear) over video gloss black classics
and on snare, i have a Remo CS over something... but it'll be a coated classic w/dot over a classic snareside.

ty man :D

I agree. Better to have it all off the bat and then if you only want to bring some parts of it you can. You can't bring more than you have though.

honestly, next time i'm classics on top... but yeah i tune 'em medium tight over slightly tighter medium tight, bout 1.5 turns past finger tight i think.

Awesome kit!!

I agree and have always held the same view as Chippy. Buy a bigger kit, and use what you want. I have a massive kit, if setup fully. It never it is. The choices though make for some astounding possibilities...

i wanna do some reallly weird setups but i don't have the right hardware, i need more of those multiclamp thingies!

Parradiddle Pete

You know what...

I would, but for 3 things:
I can't play double bass
Black kits just dont do it for me any more
LEFT SIDE RIDE??? No WAY could I play that!

:)

Chippy569
07-31-2006, 04:53 PM
the ride is on a stand, you can pick it up and move it :p

Now there's a kit I wouldn't mind bumping into in a dark ally. And yes I completely agree with the setup creativity that arises from having a large kit, it's great!

you know what, we should tag team. i should move into your place, and move my drums into the studio, and use my mad studio knowledge to record your family's musical extravaganzas and other bursts of creativity.

What about me? Now I gotta go cry in a corner!

haha. I never really though about the possibilities of big kits. I just always use what I have and it comes out big. Even when I try a 4 piece, it still comes out with me using 2 timbales and everything.

awesome I got a 8 piece kit and i only use 6 ( I never used my 10" tom). And yea your kit is sexy as always (every set up)

Its coming with a full set of soft cases, a few stands, a good pearl hihat one, some crappy sabian cymbals, 13" sabian handhammered hats, all new heads, and a single IC pedal. I cant wait.

Well, when I buy my Sonor 3005 (I'm hoping next summer) I'll be getting a 7-piece. I think that's enough for me, I've never really liked two bass drums.

:p

Electric Requiem

I dont have room for double bass, so Ill just stick with single.

Ill Mitch
07-31-2006, 08:31 PM
I've always been of that same mentality, but I don't think i'll ever go with two equally sized bass drums.

crazyguy832
07-31-2006, 08:39 PM
^^^
Ditto.

I'm probably going to go with a regular bass and then a larger gong bass if I ever go with two bass drums.

Yeah, opposite for me. Regular bass and a smaller jazz bass.

Eh, well, I tune my bass high like a tom anyways. I like getting a decent boom with a thump behind it.

Some people feel as though anything more than a 4 piece makes you lazy and you stop being creative, though.

Electric Requiem

having the four piece has really improved my use of dynamics in tom grooves, but now I cant wait for my six piece

Some people feel as though anything more than a 4 piece makes you lazy and you stop being creative, though.

:rolleyes:I've been playing one for so long that I feel restricted, and my creativity has gone down the drain. 4-pieces are only good to an extent, IMO. That's why I'm getting a 6 or 7 piece for my next one.

Nice kit as always, chippy

Looks beautiful. I am getting 2 more toms. Right now im at 12 13 16 toms but i want 10 12 14 16 set-up. Don't know if I should e bay my 13 or keep it.

Sean
08-01-2006, 03:00 PM
Keep it, if you sell it anddecide you want more toms then you won't have one.

Chippy569
08-01-2006, 03:25 PM
keep it- selling it with the others will give you better resale anyway.

That was Phil. I remember him wondering why you have a double pedal set up with 2 bass drums. :p

I'm a fan of the 5-piece: one rack and two floor.
I just love having my ride right there!
