blabbermouth reported about this CD the other day, the samples sound really epic.

Taste of Chaos Ensemble Perform's Mastodon's Leviathan

Release Date: 8/8/2006
Details:
It is a rare beast that can pull off the numerous feats set forth by the mighty members of Mastodon. For lack of a better term, “Upward Mobility” best describes their place on the heavy metal food-chain. These Atlanta metallers have gone from an underground favorite to one of the scene’s saviors. Notoriously referred to as Rush by way of Metallica, that slugline can’t match the complexity of Mastodon’s brutal riffs and literate content. Leviathan, a concept album which employs imagery from Moby Dick, serves as an allegory for a life spent on the road. The album has been critically hailed not only in the world of heavy metal, but by almost every major music publication.

On this record, The Taste of Chaos Ensemble is going back to Mastodon’s seminal masterpiece for a truly challenging tribute. Each piece of the music is sonically twisted by these audacious musicians. The complex brutality of Leviathan is peeled away, layer by layer, to unearth a masterwork that will leave audiences stunned. These string instrumentals provide more reason for people to heed the call of the Mastodon.

1 Blood and Thunder
2 I Am Ahab
3 Seabeast
4 Island
5 Iron Tusk
6 Megalodon

So these guys are going to do a string tribute to Mastodon if i read this correctly?

Could be cool, but I'd want to hear it before passing any judgement.

That sounded pretty bad actually. They totaly missed the chaotic technicallity of Blood and Thunder.
