same.
i dont think the band has relesed anything abiut the situation.
but i dont htink it will change the sound of the band too much. the new guy (the origional guy) plays a lot like jon. and omar writes all the music seperate from the drums and then gives it to the drummer to work his part out.
i will miss jon but am excited for blake.
Plan B.

I've never been *really* into them (clearly not as much as Plan B). But surely he's going to go on to play for another band.... maybe a better band :o

There goes one of my favourite drummers. Big mistake Volta, big mistake. It'll be interesting to find out why this happened. That said, I'm looking forward to the third album.

To this day I have never EVER seen a worse live performance then the Mars Volta. Seriously it was almost unfathomable how bad the live show was. I've seen some true garbage in my day too... Punk shows, godawful local bands you name it. They took the cake as far as horriblness went.
Thank you. And I thought I was the only one who felt like taking a pillow out during their show.
It was so self-indulgent it was disgusting.

I am with Jim on this one. If I want to hear people masturbate with instruments.. i'll get a'surfing on the internet, not pay $30 for a Mars Volta CD.

Are there any reasons? He fitted perfectly to that band and his playing and power is extraordinairy. After Lopez quit Opeth, this is the next band i won't see in my favourite line-up

He injured his back, I would guess due to bad posture or the likes. The door is open for him to return if and when he can, but for the forseeable future he's done.

Er, right ....
His replacement, Blake Fleming, is a very good drummer indeed ... but Theodore was like, superman ...
I am so glad that I managed to see him live though ...
