Neh.
Community Threads were basically made to be places where people could talk about anything for whatever reason, in forums that had specific topics.
I mean saying lol for three pages is stupid and should be banned.
But people throwing around silly comments about races blah etc. is kind of a stupid thing to crack down on as long as it doesn't get viciously offensive.

So Steve Irwin the Crocodile Hunter was killed by having the poisonous barb of a stingray's tail pierce his heart.
That sucks.
JohnXDoe
09-04-2006, 08:51 AM
yeah. i always thought he might go like that. the guy took tremendous risks. so it pierced his heart, did it? was he attacked? and sort of a morbid thought, but if he was attacked i wonder if the stingray knew by instinct where his heart was? doubt it, but you never know with critters :(
La Revolucion
09-04-2006, 08:53 AM
He was stung near the Great Barrier Reef cause he was too close to one. Some scientist said that the stings usually aren't fatal, but that the stingray randomly stung him in the heart, which of course would kill him.

Hot One
All the Catholics who thought The DaVinci Code was an assault on their religion might as well not even bother with Hot One. The opening track on their self-titled album, "Get Your Priest On!", doesn't present the clergy in a particularly flattering light. Social and religious conservatives, war hawks and politicians, parents, the timid and shy — none of these groups really fit the Hot One focus group of vulgar, disgusted and distracted fans of filthy glam rock, with a sarcastic political bent. I was blasting the disc while driving with all the windows down in my Saturn Vue recently, and it felt so right to be so wrong.

It just seems that when people log in, they should come with the expectation not to see trannies, or pseudo-catastrophe, or whatever.
I feel that to an extent. But also you can't let it get to you.
Like you have to provide a semi-free and fun site atmosphere. People want to discuss other things and joke and such, and being banned for jokes and things when they are in reasonable boundaries just makes people not really care about the site.

I love how girly Moz is. It's refreshing. Justin Timberlake and Christina, for crying out loud! :smash:
If only girls listen to these acts, the guys are sincerely missing out.

I just realized the new Justin TImberlake album leaked so I am soooo on that right now. Although the album name is retarded to the max.
We can still say retarded right?

I absolutely despised the album the first time I heard it but it grows on you, I really like it now. About half the songs are pure quality. I'm definitely reviewing it.

Obviously sputnik isn't gaining many new users because the site isn't fun. I have no problem with his work ethic, but mx's attitude is part of the reason hackers linger at this site.
Oh shush. If I don't enforce the rules I get ribbed, if I do I get ribbed. After 5 years it's not really about 'fun' anymore

"Honestly, I think you should take a break from reviewing for a while. Your reviews have been so incredibly dull and boring lately, and the fact that you whore them so much doesn't help either."
A few things. First, telling people to quit reviewing is a huge no no, because the whole purpose of the site is for people to review when they want to. This has been clearly demonstrated as being part of the rules. Second, this is really a mean way to say it - this isn't "take a break," it's "incredibly dull and boring", and "whoring." The guy wrote a good review about some music he likes. The negativity on the site is what's killing it, not the rules. There probably have been scores of new users scared away because everyone was being an as*shole.

Look, he was just saying that I should really slow down and it was his way of criticizing me. I took it and accepted it. I could use some slowing down, and it made me realize how much I really just review by rote, which I don't think should happen.
It's not the right way to do it. I don't care if you feel guilty or not, making comments like that on the site will get you banned.

Well then what the hell is the right way to do it? Granted, the "incredibly dull and boring" thing may have been out of line, but sometimes being blunt is the only way to do it.

"Hey man, maybe you should slow down your reviewing a little bit. Seems like you are sort of churning these out, and not going into as much depth as you usually do"
Conrast to:
