Well here's the story. I had this old Gateway computer that used to be my dads. Well he got a new computer a few years ago and gave it to me. Well It worked well for a while but now it's a hunk of junk. The powersupply burned out so my dad let me use his Dell Latitude laptop from work now which I like. Well I got a new powersupply but it's a little useless. I was wondering if I could do some cool simple mods or some upgrades that wouldn't be too expensive. I also don't have much room for mods either because the tower is pretty small.

Here are the specs (circa 2000)
Gateway Flexatxstc Bro Essential 800c
Hard Drive: 20 gigs
Video Card: integrated 4 megs ( :( )
Ram: 384 megs
CPU: 866 Mhz Intel Celleron

The soundcard is a half-duplex stock soundcard. It has a cd rom drive but can't play dvd's. I was thinking of upgrading the CD drive into a DVD/CD burner. I was also thinking of upgrading the USB ports into a USB 2.0. I have two slots in the front and 3 in the back but two don't work.

Put more harddrives, setup a network and use it to store files.

That's what I'm thinking of doing. I want to get a 200 gig hd and a nice dvd/cd burner. I also have a TV tuner card but the tower is too small to fit it in :( . I read about making your own tower but I'm thinking of just buying one off of newegg.
