THe Bouncings Souls put out a new record 2 month ago and i haven't seen a thread about it yet (sorry if one excists already).
What are your thoughts? I think it's pretty good and live up to my expectations.

Best song might be Letter From Iraq, nice to see them go political for once.

Album rules, The Gold Song is easily the best track.

I think the Pizza Song might be my favorite from the album, followed by Lean On Sheena. Really great album.

I think How I Spent Summer Vacation is a bit overated, just a bit. I mean I really like it but a lot of the songs are just not good enough. Songs such as Privat Radio, True Believers, Manthem and Gone are really amazing songs and might be some of the best pop-punk songs ever written, but the rest of the songs can't really match them.

The Gold record is suberb. I found out that most souls fans who dont loe it right away, with eventually love it.

It opens Strong and For all the unheard is a spectacular closing track. I love evrysong. The pizza song gets very. very. bland after a while though. Its great when they play the songs live.

Letter from iraq= amazing, and from an actual letter from iraq.

Hopeless romantic is my other favorite Cd, then HISMSV

Gogol Bordello wasn't at my Warped, but by sing during Argyle, I mean that he held out the mic and I was near it. AM! does a dissapointing set (plus I got a cramp and had to stop dancing) and I didn't see NOFX but I should've.

I got up on stage during True Believers when I saw them earlier this year.

:(. I was looking foward to AM!. eh, as long as i get my souls fix.

I saw them a week after The Gold Record came out. It was so so so so good.

Yeah, I was going to say the souls didn't even write that song.

Yeah, I know, but i like their version better.

And better things, although i've never heard the original, so i cant compare.

The Gold Record is probably their 3rd or 4th best. Behind HISMSV, Hopeless Romantic and possibly their Self-Titled.

I heard a member of Flogging Molly worked with The Souls on The Gold Record, in producing it. I think it shows in the music, as theirs a hint of irish drinking punk blended with their signature pop punk, which ends up sounding awesome.

Great feel-good summer album... a much different feel than Anchors Aweigh, which I always associated with the changing seasons into fall, more depressed-mode type of album

I upped my thread on that one, in case anyone wants to chat about that

The Souls would be my second favorite band to live right now. They are able to play one of the worlds best setlists if they combine all their best songs.

It was ****ing homo, when they came to Australia they skipped Perth (population 1.4 million) and went to Hobart instead (population 475 000).

Still makes me angry.

Ghostfire3
08-04-2006, 09:05 AM
Maybe they weren't able to book a gig in Perth.

an0therface
08-04-2006, 10:28 AM
I had no excuse for missing them when they came out to Oz. It's a pitty you never saw them in Perth, but Hobart never gets anything down there. I had no idea Perth was that big.

This record is damn good.

They would have been one of the only reasons I would have gone to Warped but sort of skipped because I'd rather see them in a more intimate setting. I read on Whole Wheat Bread's myspace that they may be touring with the B-Souls' this fall. I would kill to see that show.

Flagjacket
08-04-2006, 12:55 PM
I don't get the whole "intimacy" thing. When you see a big show, unless you're in the stands, the people still come down from the stage and stand on the barricade and stuff. And there's no stands at Warped Tour and the main stage with the Jack In The Box is the only one that gets massive crowds.

sketchyjoe
08-04-2006, 01:56 PM
There's just something about being able to just jump on stage if you want to and fling yourself off.

There's no point of crowdsurfing at somewhere like that.

How much of the new album did they play?

The Fonz
08-08-2006, 11:25 AM
They were pretty good. In Englishtown NJ, they played The Gold Song, and Lean on Sheena. Plus Lammar Vannoy, kate is great, True Believers, Private radio, and some more. I was a little dissapointed because I'm pretty sure they played all those songs last time i saw them in Philly on like.. June 10. They were still amazing. Crowd Surfing wasn't too much of a problem at the souls for me. The Pit was crazy, i lost my shoe :(. BUt then my friend found it later so it was ok.

However. I hate crowdsurfers. Is it wrong for me to just... step out of the way if they come by me.. and only attempt to catch them if it seems they might hit their head? Becuase afkdshfka, i swear, if one more crowdsurfer gets thrown on my head....

I just find The Gold Record too slow. I mean, it's great for certain moods, but I don't know. If I want to listen to the Souls, I throw on Hopeless Romantic.
