Hey guys, sorry if this seems a little trivial, but this has been annoying me. Recently, my desktop CPU has been taking ages to start up and shutdown, and has been just running slowly in general.
Games generally run fine, for this system at least. But any use of multiple applications and work programs just seem to retard my processer to a snail's pace. Netscape seems to be especially vulnerable to this problem, and will pretty much freeze everything open if you leave it minimized long enough for the screen saver to activate.
Most of my non essential processes have been disabled on startup, I scan for spyware regularly, I have plenty of hard drive space, and my virus scan applications have turned up nothing as of yet. I'm really at a loss as to what could be causing these issues. It never used to act like this, and it sort of happened all at once a while back. At the time, I had very little hard drive space, so I thought it might be something to do with that, but after cleaning things up, it has continued.
If anyone could point me in a possible direction to a fix, I would be very grateful. I'd like to try and stay away from reformatting my hardrive if possible, but I'm open to it if it seems to be nessescary.
