What Thriller/Horror Am I Thinking Of?

Ok, so I remember watching a film a year or 2 ago about a killer that kept women and cut pieces of them so he could then put the pieces together and become a women. I remember the man in his house with a giant hole in his cellar where he would keep the alive women till he killed them and I remember something about a dog as a pet.

I wanted to know what the film was so I could watch it again, for some reason I thought it was Red Dragon (one of the Hannibal films) but I read about the other two Hannibal films and it doesnt appear to be it.

Please help me!

I really cant remember but that sounds right, I remember also towards the end someone in the killers house and its all dark and he has night vision goggles on and theres a bed person rotting in a bath and the police come to the door and the killer says everything is fine?

Why is the movie named that anyways?

If you read the book, Hannibal explains to Clarice that this case will help her silence the lambs that were on the farm she grew up on. Which is alluding to her troubled past with her father.

Great reads, I highly suggest them.

I honestly find Red Dragon to be the best of the books.
