Not too familiar with the 280 area. I live in between Hoover and Homewood in a place called Shannon right off of 150.

I'm starting to come around on this whole "screamo as a genre" thing. At first I thought about it and thought screamo was a genre, then Ash had some good reasons as to why it's NOT a genre, but now I have some reasoning as to why I think screamo is a genre.

So yeah...I'm thinkin' screamo is a genre.

Screamo actually is a genre, just not many bands fit into it. The reason there's the whole "Screamo isn't a genre" is because while it WAS a genre, it died, and people started calling any band that was relatively fast "screamo." If you use it to define the actual screamo bands, that's cool, but people calling bands like Gospel screamo is annoying.

I've always stood by my belief that screamo is a genre. Ash makes a very good point but alot of you just say it with no reasoning to back it up.

The bands in the same category as Neil Perry and Jerome's Dream, hun. After those bands died, the whole scene kind of faded.

I'd consider stuff like Orchid and pg.99 screamo, too, myself.

I wouldn't say everything that has screaming is screamo, for example: Saetia's got screaming but I wouldn't call that screamo.
