Great movie yet to read the book. Jack Nicholson is awesome in this, and the story is just brilliant.

Has anyone else seen it?

An absolute classic and one of my favourite films of all time.
Jack Nicholson is amazing in this film, definatly one of my favourite performances, not only just from him, but in general too. This films got a great story and is funny as hell to boot.

Cheif ftw.

The movies is awesome. The book is a lot more darker that the movie. Ken Kesey hated the movie.

The film was quite good, but it is over-rated. Jack Nicholson, Louise Fletcher, Brad Dourif all play good parts well, and DeVito is good as Martini or whatever he's called. But some parts of the film just didn't work.

The book was pretty awesome. The movie wasn't bad, but it didn't capture the essence of the book, which was a hallucination-clouded trip through a sort of mental void. I found it to be much less interesting when not told from the Chief's point of view.

I've only seen the movie, at about the same time I also saw Easy Rider, Jack Nicholson in both.

The guy who wrote it was on LSD at the time. I guess it was suppose to be his view of American society at the time, and how it was just one big looney bin. That may or may not be true, but I heard it on The Drug Years. Just throwin it out there.

Haha, thats exactly the same way I first seen it. We only read the first part of the book though, and then near the end of the year we just watched the video.

That's pushing it. You ever read something written by someone on acid? Or seen something they drew or heard them talk, for that matter?

Not exactly what you'd call book-quality coherent.

ive done acid before and its understood that writing an entire book coherently during your trip would be quite hard, the actual insights and reflects you take from the trip are quite noteworthy which can be expanded upon while sober.

acid is a much easier to drug to write with during your trip then shrooms as you have more control over your physical movements and less on your mind.

That makes more sense, obviously. I'm sure the depictions of the Chief's hallucinations were acid-influenced as well.

Sometimes a Great Notion is just as good of a book.

I've read the book, but it was a while ago so I don't quite remember all of it. From what I do remember, though, it was a pretty good book. :thumb:
