The snare should be in the middle, and it doesn't matter if the hats don't have a X.
Tab it out yourself if you think it'll be better?

Yeah, it dosent matter what is what on the stave, most books have their own key in the front pages.
I use the full version of Finale, no problems at all

Finale works just fine. You have to use the special notehead tool for the "x" for the hi-hat.

Yeah man.
Finale notepad is all whacked up.
For example, when playing it back, instead of drum noises they have a samba whistle, cowbell and timbale for the drum sounds?.. I do not know why, or how to fix it.
Although a buddy of mine sent me some drum music (marching drumline) that he composed with his full version, so I just took that, deleted his notes and went to
town with my own. And the sounds worked fine, just with a few minor bugs. (the sound cut off a few times..)
Another thing I noticed is sometimes its a bit hard to get hi hat clicks and all that good stuff with notepad, because you have to be verryy careful where you place the note, maybe just a fraction of an inch higher is a different noise..
Yeah so notepad, is all crazy..It may be fine for other instruments, but I never had great luck with it while using it for Drumline music..or drumset mainly because its all percussion sounds and no actual drum sounds..

Sibelius 3 works perfectly for me. All the noteheads, and even optional stem direction, meaning I can have have plural notes in unison on one stave, and choose which stems go up, and which go down.

Bah, Finale 2006 sucks. Sibelius 4 is what it is. (http://www.sibelius.com) They even have a cheaper price if you switch from Finale to their program.
In Sibelius, when a line or space doesn't have the sound you want you just go to Edit>Staff Types and pick the sample you want on the line, I'm sure Finale would have a similar feature?

Yep, it would, which is why Im suprised that you say Finale sucks.
I use it for EVERYTHING in my drum realted lifestyle, its an incredibly powerful program. You just need to figure out how to use it.
Thats completely true. I recently tried tabtrax; you can input both normal notation and tabnotation. It's not superpowerfull but it works way easier then Finale, its great for quicky noting down some ideas. Its ok as long as you don't need crazy subdivisions.

You could also use good old Guitar Pro - probably not as good as finale but it gets the job done

Well, I appreciate that Sibelius can do everything Finale can WITHOUT having to spend a long time using it. Finale took me a few hours just to get used to the interface where in Sibelius I made a full score in only three or four. Different strokes for different folks I guess, but Sibelius is DEFINATELY worth checking out.
