In 2003 Fred Durst and his gang of nu-metal misfits (minus Wes Borland) came out with their not so hit "We've lost it" album Results May Vary. 15 tracks of post-Bizkit. But one song was not post-Bizkit. Or old, radio Bizkit even. Arguably being the most odd choice of a cover song in popular music industry history, especially for a band like Bizkit, Fred Durst decided to cover "Behind Blue Eyes" by the legends that are The Who. Being praised by hardcore LB fans as "the best song Durst has ever written" and numerous ignorant, amateur music fans, it was obviously covered to save Limp Bizkit's career, (which it honestly didn't, it failed as well as it should have).
I just thought I'd acknowledge the jump from Bizkit's previous lyrical content up to their hit, self-written single, "Behind Blue Eyes"
Now read both the song lyrics very carefully.
[Intro]
It could be the absense talking
I dont think so
I dont either
Ive gotta find a new place
A new place to feed
Gotta be
Stop everything, something is not feeling right
The planets are not all aligned
I know when I felt this before
My evil is thirsty for more
I need a new allie to feed
What can I do?
I've got an idea
I think I'll just become a priest
Decieving them with my belief
I'll preach about what life is worth
And cover my sins with the church
My demons can run around free
No one will suspect a thing
I'll show them its okay to lust
A priest is a church you can trust
I found a new allie to feed
Baptized by the unexpected
Terrorized by the imperfections
Somethings not right
The planets are not all aligned
I know when I felt this before
My evil is thirsty for more
I need a new allie to feed
What can I do?
I've got an idea
I think I'll just become a priest
Decieving them with my belief
I'll preach about what life is worth
And cover my sins with the church
My demons can run around free
No one will suspect a thing
I'll show them its okay to lust
A priest is a church you can trust
I found a new allie to feed
Baptized by the unexpected
Terrorized by the imperfections
Baptized by the unexpected
Terrorized by the imperfections
Oh my god
Im watching TV
I cant
Oh whats this world coming to
I see a priest molesting children
I see terrorists blowing up buildings
I see someone in rage
Killing Dimebag on stage
What the **** is this?
What the **** is this?
I got a kid
Should I send him to Sunday School?
I got a kid
Should I send him to Sunday School?
So you can **** him
Oh no you aint gonna **** him
How bout this?
I don't ****ing know who I can trust
In this world and I'm gonna blow
One more time
I'm not that scared
Something is not feeling right
The planets are not all aligned
I know when I felt this before
My evil is thirsty for more
I need a new allie to feed
Baptized by the unexpected
Terrorized by the imperfections
Baptized by the unexpected
Terrorized by the imperfections
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you
No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through
But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be
I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free
When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool
If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat
No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes
If you ask me, the lyrics are practically the same exact thing. Of course Durst's are dumbed down a bit to make him look less intelligent; to hide the real truth: Virtually, I believe that Townshend and Durst are the same person and everyone has been fooled by one of the greatest cover up stories in human history.
