So I need a laptop for school. I was looking at getting macbook. I can get a regular macbook for about $1500, or a pro for $300 more. Are there any major differences I should know about besides more memory and a slightly faster processor. I think the pro has a 15 in screen instead of 13, but thats all I know. Besides all that, is it worth an extra 300 to go pro. Or are the macbooks that good at all?

Macbooks are awesome.

There's barely any difference, just go for which is the better deal.

They are both deals. I'm pretty sure they also both run Windows programs too, which is really what I want out of a mac.

edit: and for about 120$ more, I can get a video iPod and wireless printer. Each comes with a printer regardless.

Will the one I got with my PC a few years ago work?

What do you need to use it for? How much cash are you willing to spend?

I'd get the biggest I could afford.

Well I "need" it for school. I technically could get away without it, but it would be a major convenience. The whole campus is wi-fi, so I could do work anywhere which would be great.

sry i f'd up with the price. The macbook pro is 300 more. I guess I could afford either. But i'd rather not spend 300 more dollars on something I won't need. And i'm not THAT computer saavy, at least when it comes to specs. So i'm just wonderin if the upgrades the upgrades on the pro are worth 300$. Does it come with something else really cool that i'm not aware of maybe?

I would just go for the standard then. Maybe upgrade the hard drive and ram definitely.

isn't apple running a deal for students where you'll get an iPod nano with the purchase of a macbook?

i dunno, but i do know they've got a cheaper imac coming out. that's taking the place of the eMac. It's pretty damn cheap.

If anyone's interested I can dig it back out?

If I were you I'd probably just get the macbook. If you're going to be using it at school then you'll probably use it for work, internet, and music. You wont need the extra specs of the pro.

I've had my Powerbook for 2 years now and it's still kicking as well as when I got it. I'll probably upgrade once I'm down with school though. Dunno if it'll be a laptop, but it will be a Mac. Maybe a G5 or a Macbook Pro.

Either will be good, it's not like you're going to be disappointed with it when you get it, whichever one you decide to get.
