Discuss how incredibly fun and beautiful this game is...
I played the original and I was really happy to find that the remake is an improvement in every way, and nothing got worse.

I played the 2004 version...I only rented it though, so I never really got into it.

Same with me.
Oh question, is Civ 4 freeware?

It's a lot of fun, although it does get kinda repetative.

Oh okay cool, for a day I figured nobody had played Pirates. I like its simplicity, I knew how to play it within ten minutes of starting.
Oh god that looks amazing.

There's a remake? Unless you talk about that game which is some years old now...
I used to play it a lot, and despite it small errors, it was pretty amazing. The spanish chicks are hot :p but after a while there wasn't much to do, it all just repeated itself.
EDIT: I thought you meant there was a remake of the remake, but I see now you didn't. I should prolly go play it again, I'm in the mood after seeing PotC: DEAD MAN'S CHEST aaaarrrrrrrr!

Yeah, the game is just visual genious. Everywhere is just cool tropical water and cool towns and the music is all instrumentation, no synth.

There was a Sega (IIRC) version back in the late 80s / early 90s. Hell, I used to play that version up till I got introduced to its newer sibling. Fortunately, unlike many sequels/remakes, this remake improves EVERYTHING and makes nothing worse. If you liked the original, definitely get the new one.
I can see it getting kind of repetetive if you play it too much though. You'd have to play it in brief bursts, on and off, to keep it from getting old. Then again I guess that's the secret of lasting enjoyment from any good game.

Man, I loved the Genesis one. That's the only game I still play on that system.
I need to find this one somewhere, it looks pretty cool.
I thought about buying this for awhile, but never did. How many gameplay hours would you say it has?

Well like I said, it can last a long, long time if you don't play it a whole bunch until you hate it. It has a lot of replayability since you can play lots of different styles, in a bunch of time periods, as a person from various countries. It's a pretty sandbox-style game. So....a lot of hours.

It's one of those games you can finish in a few hours (say 10) if you really tried, but there are so many extra things you can do along the way that the main story and finishing the game becomes obsolete and your suddenly lost in this oblivion time machine of fun. A billion ways to go about finishing the game, there are key events that are more or less used as markers to anchor a timeline in so you don't waste away. And when you "finish" the game you retire your pirate, setting records and such along the way. It's pretty well worth the money, or other means you have to get it.

I love it when they sing the Drunken Sailor song!
Sometimes I found it annoying when the crew mutiny and the fact that you have to retire at some point.
But then again, I never came that far.
I seem to remember that there was a glitch in the game: the pilgrims, or those monks; you can't use that thing you buy from them for nuttin'!
to MX: I'd say you should buy it if you are interested.

It was enjoyable for a time, but I stopped playing just because it got very repetitive really. It might be time to dig it up again though, 'cause it's been ages since I last played.
I've been pretty interested in the newer one too. The price should be pretty low by now, I should go check it out.

Pirates is one seriously cool game. I wish I actually owned it, but for now, I'm content to just camp out at my friend's house whenever I want to play it :)
