Ah yeah. Canvas Solaris.

Those guys are intense in every respect of the word. Their concepts and instrumentation is out of this world, almost quite literally!

All I can say to you is be open to all kinds of music and play with the time signatures.

Tech metal is a bit hard to explain, there's a lot of versatility. I can say I have a tech band and have Samba influences, others may have a tech band and have Jazz influences, as you can see the roots of this genre are totally different.

I agree with Shadows.

The problem most bands in this field of music is they're awwwwful songwriters. That's why I like bands like I listed, because while the instrumentation is complex and the compositions unique and varied, it's still listenable.

Definitely. Tech death is about as extreme as muci can get before it turns into incoherent technical wankery bullshit.

yeh, i know what you mean. its hard, i think you just have to use your brain. iv got loads of riffs and wot not, but its just putting them all together. i need to join a band and then i guess it will be easier with everone contributing and getting more ideas in the pan. the fact that i have jazz lessons at the moment and have got through 10 years of slogging it out on the piano with my mum yelling down my ear helps a lot!! im gonna try mixing mathematics with music :smash: d.i.y lol

thanks :thumb:

PETA is at the door and im holding a gun to the cats head

This shouldn't even be considered music for you big grind fans.

Gorguts????

The Obscura album owns. \m/

alarum

I really need to pick up an album by them. I have two songs I got off their website (or maybe myspace, it's unimportant anyway), and they sounded awesome. Very Atheist-y. I saw them live prior to downloading those songs though, and the sound was so awful that I left without having a clue as to what they sounded like. It was the worst sound I've ever heard at a gig, being just a horrible noisy mix of feedback.

And by the way, nice to see Psycroptic on top of your list. :p

The best bands in this category would have to be Cleric and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

I have to whore my Gorod review here.

and you guys left out "genghis tron"! they're awesome haha.

For more weird stuff..i recommend Naked City (John Zorn), and Fantomas.

how about Freak Kitchen, Don Caballero or Bumblefoot
they are more rock than metal but are still pretty technical
