i've recently been very interested in the idea of recording material on classic equiptment, like reel-to-reel recorders and such.
the only problem, however, is that i'm concerned about putting my time/money into this idea, but then running into scenarios such as:
-how would i transfer my music from a reel onto other mediums, like CD, or onto my computer?
-how would i get the reels? they seem like they'd cost a lot.
-buying faulty equiptment, being that most of the stuff on ebay says "untested", i can't even be sure if i'm buying something that died 20 years ago after falling off a shelf or if i'm buying a great piece of gear.
any tips? do any of you have experience with older recording equiptment? give me your input on my idea, if you wish.
thanks in advance!
