It was freaking awesome. Trivium, Behemoth, In Flames, As I Lay Dying, and Canabal Corpse were great. I got a poster signed by all the guys in Trivium. If you have the chance to go, I highly recomend it.

Sweet, I'm seeing it on August 7th, it should be pretty good.

How was the sound at your show? Because last year at the show I went to the bass was way too loud and it made everything sound really muddy, so I'm hoping they're doing a better job this year.

I went to SOTU last Sunday... I unfortunately missed Through The Eyes Of The Dead (but I've seen them before, so whatever), and luckily missed The Chariot and Evergreen Terrace. I got there for Behemoth though, and aside from Terror and Trivium, the show was fantastic.

Vision of Disorder was really good.
Cannibal Corpse was orgasmic.
Converge was incredible.
Behemoth was freaking more brutal than I could ever imagine.
GWAR was just... GWAR.

Even As I Lay Dying (who I hate) put on a really good show...

And needless to say, In Flames was the best part of the night for me, I kinda wished they played some old stuff, but whatever.

That's too bad that they're not playing any old songs, but oh well I like the new stuff a lot too, I just wish they would at least play Only For the Weak, since that's my favorite In Flames song. How long was their set?

And that's nice that As I Lay Dying put on a good show, I've heard a lot of people say that they're doing a good job on this tour. I actually just listened to a few of their songs, and although I'm certainly not a big fan, they're not as bad as I remembered. I'm not excited about seeing them but I'm not dreading it either (although I am dreading The Chariot, they sound just like Norma Jean, and I remember how bad Norma Jean were last year).

And I've heard nothing but good things so far about Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth, so I can't wait for them.

Yeah I went and was dissapointed. Trivium is one of my favorite bands, but they dont scream anymore, and Detonation isnt even a good song.

Also Cannibal Corpse was probobly one of the worst non-local live bands i have ever seen, and i have been to a million shows. Honestly, nobody moveed from their spot on the stage, the singer was god-awful at getting the crowd into it, and it was just super boring.

However, I was impressed with The Black Dahlia Murder and As I Lay Dying was incredible. In Flames was good, and GWAR was amazing.

Taste is taste, but......

Going on your saying AILD was amazing and CC boring. I think it's just not your type of music. I've heard/seen/audio/video of CC live and it's always great. I've read show reviews on here and people always praised them

Yeah. They play all these Drop D bar chords and speed it up with no muting. Figure out how that sounds.

I saw Trivium January 06 and they sounded great. Still screamed, and they sounded tight. It always leaves me so confused when people say they sound jumbled and horrible. Oh well, I guess I'll just be happy that I went to the apparently one and only good Trivium show.

I'm going to SOTU on Friday. Can't wait!

During CC everyone was standing around and watching. They DO NOT MOVE at all, the only movement is them banging their heads, they dont even headbang with their whole body, it was god awful, download a video if you want to see yourself how boring they are. There wasnt even a pit at all.

I said Trivium wasnt good because their singer doesnt scream anymore. As for As I Lay Dying they got the entire crowd into it, huge pit, they were moving around, its just better.

What? They weren't good live because they didn't move around a lot? Their music sounded fantastic, and they banged heads the entire time... I'd prefer seeing someone play something technical while windmilling than someone jumping around like an *** on stage.

When they played in Camden there was a huge pit, and it was freaking amazing to be in.

I said Trivium wasnt good because their singer doesnt scream anymore.

That's not why they weren't good, though it added to the problem... Matt's horrible screaming was better than his horrible singing... but the music itself was poor... Travis' bass drums sounded far too triggered and drowned out everything, Matt and Corey (and Corey couldn't project his 'screams' for ****) weren't always in time, Paulo just looked like an *** and killed it with his backing vocals, and when they did their solos they tried posing too much and butchered them.

Agreed. Just because a band stands there and doesn't move doesn't mean they're bad live. Slayer, Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, etc. they all just pretty much stand there for the most part, but they play their music very well live, better than on the albums.

Now, some bands can do the whole running around onstage and going nuts while still playing their songs really well live, such as Metallica, Iron Maiden and AC/DC, but a lot of bands can't.

For example, Norma Jean. I'm not a fan of their studio stuff at all, but it's still a lot better than when they play live, simply because they're too busy swinging their guitars around to actually play their music well. Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjg8mmVUuxw Going nuts onstage doesn't automatically make your music good, and when it comes down to it, I'd much rather watch a band that stands there but plays their music perfectly than a band that goes nuts but can't play their music well.

Although when it comes to this specific CC vs Trivium arguement I really don't have an opinion since I haven't been to SOTU yet. But that's how I feel about standing around vs. going nuts.

Its not like you know they butchered the solos you are just saying that. You cant hear every note perfectly at shows anyway. As I Lay Dying nailed their set and they move around a hell of a lot more than most bands. I understand what you mean by wanting to hear the quality of music, but its just a million times better when they actually look into it on stage, and they feed off of the crowd. When its just a bunch of dudes standing around neckbanging it just looks dumb and its so hard to get into it. Im not really a fan of death-metal but even Behemoth I thought was good because they moved around at least a little bit, and the crowd was a million times more into them the CC.

Maybe where you saw it had a crappy sound system, but the music seemed fine from where i was. The only thing was his wannabe Hetfield vocals ruined it, but the actually instruments sounded good.

Yeah get there around 4. We go there at like 300 and we saw behemoth, terror, and the black dahlia murder before GWAR came on, but obviously things can change over the different days so i think you will be safe at around 4.

Single stage.

The bands (first to last)

Through The Eyes Of The Dead
The Chariot
Evergreen Terrace
Behemoth
Terror
The Black Dahlia Murder
Converge
Gwar
Cannibal Corpse
Vision Of Disorder
Trivium
In Flames
As I Lay Dying

Vision Of Disorder
Gwar
The Black Dahlia Murder
In Flames
Behemoth
Cannibal Corpse

Well I'm going today. I'm going to be pretty bored the first 6 bands. Behemoth's line up is the 7th band here. The only bands I want to see is Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse and GWAR. Especially GWAR and Cannibal Corpse those bands rank high in my favorite bands. Plus GWAR have a great live show to amplify the greatness of their music.

I'm going to try and post pictures.

I got Beefcake and Flattus Maximus to sign my shirt as well as all of Behemoth. All the other bands were horridly gay. Especially Trivium. I left right after In Flames, whom I'm not fond of, but I wanted to hang out with some of my buddies a while longer. No pics because when I got there people were having to empty their pockets, and were getting searched well.

I went to SOTU last night. It was amazing. Trivium sound pretty good if you ask me. They seem to be reworking the vocal parts so that they are harmonized between all three guitar playing members. It worked out great. They had the biggest pit I'd ever seen. I took pictures from the whole night, and I got one of that pit. It was enormous.

GWAR is insane. Everyone should see GWAR once in there lifetime, or I don't think they can be complete.

Behemoth are just badass, I lost my voice doing all the chanting.

In Flames should have headlined. They rocked.

The other more unknown bands were better than expected. Especially Terror. They were pretty damn good.

The prices are actually good! The CDs were all around 10 bucks each (good CDs too!) and most shirts were round 20 bucks!

All in all, go to SOTU. It's a damn good time.

I got back from Sounds of the Underground Saturday night/Early Sunday Morning.

I had to say it was a great experience, I was there mostly to see Gwar and hopefully be cummed/bled/pissed on, and it was worth all the money. They were amazing to see live. One of the people next to us had no clue who Gwar was and didn't expect to get soaked (we were front row) and he hated it.

The crowd was A LOT less aggressive than I thought they would be. Crowd surfers weren't bad, and there was nothing really going on in the front, I thought I would have died when a lot of the heavier bands took their way on stage

WHAT THE HELL was up with "The Chariot"? They were the worst excuse for a metal band I have ever seen, the crowd hated them also, wow..they were just ridiculous, unfunny, and uninteresting.

The worst part of the crowd was a bee happen to fly in on a friends shoulder, I would expect a metal crowd to eat the damn thing and spit it out in someones eyes (not really) but everyone backed away afraid of the ****ing bee....we are in front row getting smashed and having crowd surfers kick us in the head, and the crowd where I was...was afraid of a damn bee?

Either way, great time

Sounds good, I'm going on the 7th, in just a week. It's gonna be my third time seeing GWAR :D

As for what you said about The Chariot, that's how I felt about Norma Jean last year, and I'm kinda dreading seeing The Chariot this year because their singer used to be in Norma Jean and from what I've heard of them they're like a Norma Jean clone except worse. How long did they play for? 25-30 minutes I'm guessing?

But anyway, aside from The Chariot and one or two other bands I'm looking forward to SOTU, I've heard this year is pretty good.

Yeah, about 25-30 minutes, but holy ****. I don't get that band at all, they looked like ...well just ****ing ridiculous, something you would see from Warped tour probably, following the trends of looking like an "emo band" so to say. Not that looks matter much, but it didn't add to ANYTHING.

The entire crowd was flipping them off, so the lead singers basic instinct was to go and give a thumbs up and hump some of the amplifires....and jump around like a complete ****ing idiot. The drummer, looked like something out of "How to be a blonde emo at 17" magazine if it existed.....it looked like his arms would break because they were so damn tiny. I guess it's just the way the presented themselves to be horrible at metal and sucking alot didn't go over to well.

Um, I beg to differ. My hair last time I saw them, stained pink for a week, I took three showers everyday to take it out, and they ruined my pants, underwear and shirt.

I am pretty much clean of all the stuff that was showered upon me, the only place it is visable is a tiny bit on my neck, and under my nails which are pretty much completely pink because of Gwar, oh well. Good times :)

yep, i went to.
i showed up just in time for behemoth, they were absolutly kickass, great presence.
then came, black dalhia murder, i went and sat in the shade as they sucked.

then came GWAR. what can i say absolutly incredible, the SF police force showed up just for their set, ready to break it up if they did something worthy of being broken up. what made this incredible was the fact that for thier intro they had a cop who looked remarkably like a pig and they stabbed him and sodomized him with a ten foot stick. their live show was incredible.

next, cannibal corpse. straight up death metal, they kicked ***.

then... Trivium, i only have negative things to say. they raped the solos, the singing was absolutly terrible, the lead guitarist did all the harsh vocals. at one point matt the singer said "ok i want to see everyone jump on the next one" i thought, "wtf, is this the godamned warped tour" all the true metal heads were just stationary, just like this is crap. trivium sucks.

next, Machine head. they were really good, i've never listened to them before but i enjoyed thier show.

IN FLAMES. i made my way to the front for this one, at this point i had to piss like crazy as they were setting up stage i started to hurt, but i couldnt leave.
even though they played two "old" songs it still kicked ***. the old songs were "graveland" and "pinball map".

As i lay dying... i dont know, i left.

it was a pretty good day.

Get to the front before GWAR starts. Get drenched in stuff until youjr satisfied, the get the **** out. I almost couldn't breathe after while. SO many people pushing to get more drenched, it's havoc.

Ok... good. I'll be fine then. I went to go see Comeback Kid and Cancer Bats awhile back and during Comback Kid, I had to leave cuz I was getting pushed into the stage, like right into the stage lol. It was painful. I brused 4 ribs and was covered in brises (including my face)... but that's the fun of it :chug:

In flames played Graveland from Jester Race tonight in Saskatoon and met Behemoth, that was so unreal.

Yeah, yesterday's show was just unreal, I can't believe how awesome it was. For everybody going to the few remaining dates, have fun, it was really great.

I went to the one in Sauget, Ill. It was so amazing I think it might have been the most fun I've ever had in a day. I had not heard alot of Black Dahlia Murder and they opened and I was amazed that I had not got into them earlier. Amazing stuff. I was a little dissappointed that Through The Eyes Of the Dead and Evergreen Terrace didn't play, I was really looking forward to it but it was fine because I went for In Flames and As I Lay Dying and they delivered, to get Trivium and Cannibal Corpse to go along with it, what more could you ask for. Amazing show
