I'm hoping to attend a music college like manhattenville when i graduate but i'm not sure what to play for my audition. My teacher taught me all of the scales and theory i need to know but i need a really challenging piece to show what i can play to be accepted.
Any suggestions.?
thanks in advance

a lot of times, they will have an audition list. I think there are certain pieces that are regularly played and accepted as audition pieces, those are easily accessible by looking around the web. However, if there are no restrictions, you might think about playing something that the judges won't be overly familiar with. I have found that works better because they are involved in listening to the piece as a new piece, and don't always pay as much attention to picky details as they would with something that every person who auditions will play.

Wow, that's a lot of notes. I'm sure if you memorized that you could do fine. Like the guy said above, find a list or something to see how difficult a piece they want. I haven't heard op. 66 though. Op 29 is hella fun to play though.

How about one of the Transcendental Etudes, those sound pretty damn impressive to me....

try looking into some liszt, like the Hungarian Rhapsodies
Also, Albeniz is great stuff, and really quite challenging!
Chopin is good too
They may require you to play something from each time period?? The most challenging to find is Baroque unless you don't mind playing Bach and can play it well.

yea i have. its good because i memorize all the pieces i learn and i dont usually need music after playing it enough times but choosing the pieces that show that im better than the other schmucks auditioning is what im struggling with.

Well, just remember that at an audition, they not only look for level of difficulty, but also musicality.
