hey im new to singing and i need a little bit of help

(this is just an example)
i was singing cemetary gates by pantera, it has singing for the verses but the chorus is more aggressive and demands a lot more vocal control

im very good at controlling my voice through the singing in the verse but when it comes to the more aggressive singing/shouting bits, my voice just has no aggression to it, and if i try i become too aware of my voice and sounds terrible and puts me off.

another thing is that if i put too much aggression into and it becomes a bit of a growl, my throat scratches and it causes me to cough, any way of helping my throat get better at handling this? eating and drinking better things?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you need to cough youre doing it incorrectly. Grab a sandwich and a drink and go here for a while. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12768301#post12768301
