okay, i have come to the reailization that insane speed is something you are born knowing and doesnt come from practice. what the hell do you "practice" to be able to play fast, by fast i mean something like....

all I know is that that guy never practiced a day in his life to be able to do that...
seriously though, theres a lot of things you can do to practice... you can use a metronome, like the one in the video, and start slow, and just play some straight double bass for a long while... that video wasnt that impressive really. 5 years ago I wouldnt have been able to do any of that... now, with exp. and practice, I could do that easily.

He wasnt playing amazingly fast, my double bass is up to that speed and frankly I can play alot of the double bass beats he played. His fast fills were not so much speed as insane coordination. Its like Portnoy's hand, hand, bass, bass fills: because you are using all four limbs you are not playing at a blinding speed, but it does require immense coordination to play cleanly.

I have very bad double bass chops, never worked at them, but "stock" they suck. I had it okay at one point(was able to play that Trivium song, something with a matryd or something forgot the name) but it took too much maitence for me to keep up, maybe in a couple of months I'll be able to play without spending most my time on it.

I didn't think that it was amazingly fast either, just well coordinated.
