Recording with a mic.

Can i get high quality sounding recordings with a program like audacity and the sm57? Because if i can im going to buy that mic.

If you want to know the truth its because my guitarist said to, im a bassist. He seemed to have a lot of faith in this mic and reccomend i post it in all 3. To prove a point or something. And because the whole band records at my house.

Why, i wanted everyones opinion, whats wrong with that. Not everybody plays all 3 instruments. And the bass opinion is what i really wanted in the first place.
