School would have to be 5th grade band back in '97.

Otherwise would be Feb 2005, I was in a metal band for a year.

Unless you'd count an acoustic trio, in which case it's about as soon as I started guitar, so around 10 years ago.

Technically, it was the marching brass parade band in 5th grade, where I was one of the sax players that led the rest of the school around the perimeter for a Halloween parade, playing "When the Saints go Marching In."

Though that was really more of a single-gig type of thing, we were only practicing together for 2 weeks.
