View Full Version : Some pretty fascinating, experimental bass stuff.

I was speaking with the composer, and happened to ask him how he went about the recording:
Audacity, LOL, so ghetto. But it's all I know how to use
I use alot of wierd stuff on my bass. 90% of those wierd noises are all done on bass. I play with TV remotes, I plug pedals into themselves. I put machinery next to my amp so it picks up the signal and mix that with delay.
I ran my voice through a buzzsaw on "Y", making me sound like the ****ing devil
but with this new MIDI thing I can take all these sounds and mix them with my voice live which is cool.
It reminds me a lot of film music. Listen to it late at night when there's no-one home.
Enjoy, oh, and try not to get it locked like my other thread please.

Feck!
Experimental is an understatement! I like it.

Yeah, it's pretty creepy.
You know the things that go bump in the night? Well, this is probably what's on their iPods.

I'm not at all surprised to note the name Sade on that page. The descriptions are just pretentious enough to approach nonsense, as is his trademark.
But that said, the music is actually really well done. It's soundtrack style stuff, definitely, not something I'd sit down and listen to as a matter of course, but it's very effective regardless.
Sade - since I know you'll be reading this, as you almost certainly asked PaulR to post this thread, good work. Perhaps try to keep developing them, make them a little longer, then if I were you I'd approach some Music Publishers who maintain Production Music libraries. A lot of producers for TV and Film use production music libraries as a source for soundtracks, and this is good stuff. There's good money in it. :)

I love how Sade tries to be all tough guy and is like, "THE FORUMS SUCK! I DON'T NEED YOU!" He checks them every day for hours at a time. I'm 100% certain of it and I know he'll read this post, too. :)
Alex: pretentious = Sade...he's by far the most pretentious person I have ever talked to and I've been into indie record stores and coffee shops in BOSTON.

But let's try not to turn this into a Sade bashing thread. No real point in that - he didn't point out that it was him, he just wants the feedback, and I'm happy to do that. :thumb:

Regardless, I was never a fan of Sade's work. I think he tries too hard to be artsy, and this is coming from the kid who listens to IWSMOFFY.

if you look at that space's "friends", sade's band Rune is on there.

I noticed. But the fact that he put Ceveratus Sade as his name is giveaway enough. :)
It's not really important though.

Who cares if it is by whoever! It's the internet, plus I think it's really good regardless if Sade did it or not. Agreed Alex, I wouldn't sit down and listen to it, but it's still cool.

I love those guys...I think the name of the band is actually my name on myspace.
I'm not a big fan of the music on the page, but it is very interesting to say the least.

"Negativity. Death. Destruction. Hatred. Anger. Bitterness. Animosity. Darkness. End. Entropy. Mutation. Deformity. Ambience. Nihilism. Failed Revolutions. Misery is the handmaiden of creativity. No art, nor music of significance is created during periods of happiness. Suffering, lonliness, grief, and angst are tools of our limbic system, tools to fuel our creativity and metaphysical movement."
Typical sade, that said I enjoyed this. Yet it was too short and lacked a good ending. A bloody, mutated and tortured scream would have finished it off nicely.

sade exudes pretentiousness. not because he wants to, or merely because he can; but because it is a biological necessity for him to do so. he is the living embodiment of all things ultimately inventive and insensitive; but more importantly, stimulating, on a level that you cannot even begin to contemplate. thus impinging upon the very nerves that tell you this is an incontestably vile presence, while at the same time, telling you there's not a damn thing you can do about it.
rejection of his form will only titillate the wound. your arousal is not positive nor negative. you are trapped at the nexus of a nauseating convenience, an accommodation that caters to your most undesirable instincts.

I didn't know you had any recordings up.
It's good that you're sorta doing your own thing, it's not just some slap or whatever.

At times? This is Sade we are talking about, he always tries to hard. He defines himself by pretending to be better than everyone else.

If you guys like this Raayl person, you should check out The Paper Chase. Similar concept, except there's an actual band and lyrics and stuff. You know, like real music.

A better word for that would be, your closed minded view of music:p . I think he was trying to say popular music styles.
