Hello all,

I've recentley aquired my great grandfathers mandolin and harmonica, I am not looking to sell them but i would really enjoy any info i can find on them. The harmonica is made in germany, double sided with C tuning and G tuning, and it has "Rölz" "Astoria" the z is a fancy character that I can not find. The mandolin is a "Cremona" Made in Czechoslovakia. These are in between 50 and 80 years old.

Thank You
Dylan

You're asking in the wrong place.

As in, the wrong site.

You'd be better off asking in a specialist antique musical instruments forum. I doubt you'll find any help here.

I have my german harmonica sitting around somewhere, but it's for like polka music, can't get no blues.

Unfortunately, all of the "Rolz" things on e-bay are selling for under 20 dollars, so I'd guess your harmonica is just another harmonica. Is it diatomic or chromatic? I don't understand what you mean by "double-sided".

As for the mandolin, I cannot help you. First determine if its an F style (http://www.pulseonline.com/oscar/bigOM40.jpg), or an A style (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002H0KGA.01-A26YF6IE4OQDOU._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg). That'd help you.

Yo. Learn to play those mo'fo's. They're simple enough to figure out.

I have an extremely old Mandolin as well (it was from a garage sale, not my grampa ;)) Actually, when I brought it to the store, the guy thought I was bringing it it so it could be fixed up as a decoration, not for me to play it :p

Anyway, your best bet is to bring it to some kind of expert folk instrument store or something. I go to this place here in San Francisco called Peacock music for that kind of stuff.
