Ok so I was thinking about defretting my crappy Ibanez bass but I was wondering if it was a good idea. Should I?

if you really think you would enjoy a fretless, and if you have other basses, i would say go for it

Yeah, I agree. Only do it if you have another bass. =P

If so, then it's a good idea, especially if it's a low end model. You won't really be afraid of ruining anything then..

Yeah I ripped the frets out of my Squier yesterday. It was simpler than I expected, all I need now is some wood filler, some more sand paper and maybe some primer.

I just finished up de-fretting my crappy old bass, and i would totally reccomend doing the same. It's easy to do, pretty fun, and now it sounds great.

Plus... the whole thing only cost me 18 bucks.

Are there any defretting lessons knocking about here, or could someone post a link?

That's a good defretting guide, it has been recommended that you read the entire thing before proceeding. I ran upon it while thinking about defretting my crappy Ibanez 4 string :smash:
