hey y'all, i've been looking at getting myself a mockingbird body and lp neck from warmoth then painting n fitting the electronics myself. Id also like to do a custom inlay on the 12th fret, jus a small block with "DRMF" on it, similar to the design on the mick thompson warlock. Just a couple of questions..
How easy would this be to do?
What materials should i use? (id like silverish block with lettering in black) EDIT: Id like to use mother of pearl, but how would i put black lettering on it?
Would i need to remove the fret board from the neck for routing or could i do a very thin inlay and get away with leaving the fret board on?

This kind of thing..

You could probably get ebony verneer to inlay the black letters, stewmac sells it, it's mainly for putting a layer on a headstock, but its thin enough where it could probably be used for inlay. check www.stewmac.com

that sounds as if it could work, ill experiment with it beforehand to make sure, thank you!:chug:

edit: after searching that stewmac site i've found something that will do the job perfectly i think,
William Laskin's Engraving Filler (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Inlay,_pearl/Tools_and_supplies_for:_Inlay,_pearl_cutting/Laskins_Engraving_Filler.html)
