Slap Comp

Ok so it has been over a year sine we had the last slap compitition, LETS HAVE ANOTHER. Most of you know how this works, you put your name in and you get mached up with someone, you make a recording of YOURSELF playing bass using the slap/pop techneque or some varaiation of it (Double thumbing ect). Then a thread is made with a poll and whomever receives more votes moves on.

RULES:
Slap bass
No more than three tracks on the recording
No more than 5 minutes long
Has to have at least one track of bass (duh)

Added rules
Has to be original
No entries aloud that have been entered in other compititions, pre-recorded is fine if it fits the criteria.

Put your name in if you want to join, BUT you must be able to record. If you drop out or miss a deadline you are out and your opponant gets a bi to the next round.

It should be mostly slap, after all the point of the competition is to see who has the best slap chops, while mataining groove ect. It doesn't have to be 100% slap, but it should be close.

I mean, I think I can come up with something that does a fair amount of slap, but utilizes fingering in between grooves or whatever.

Well around 70% slap should be fine. I mean this is a slap comp, and what not, but some fills that are fingerstyle ect are ok.

Doubling Thumping was allowed when I ran the competition the first 2 times. I'd say it's an integral part of slap bass. Anywho, it's not my comp so If DTing isn't allowed I can adapt! Either way, I'm in.

Ok, sorry that I was gone for so long but my power was out for almost 30 hours. Double thumbing IS aloud, it is slapping so bring it on. I have decided that I am not going to be entering, my computer is over a week late getting here so I have no idea when it is going to get here and that is the computer that I can record on.

The way that I am matching people up is I put all the names in a hat and pull names, if I think that it is an unfair matchup I reserve the right to change the matchup. None of the previous winners or runner ups will be against each other in the first round (if you are a previous winner or runner up and your name is something other than Roee, Bassguy, or luke let me know, I can't remember all of them.)

Thanks man. Much appreciated. I know it did get a bit repetitive, but I was looking to make it as simple as possible for myself, hence the little 4 beat count in parts between the alternating drum rhythms.


To Killer Fridge:

I used Fruity Loops Demo edition and then just exported the drum track to audacity as a wave file. As for equipment, I got to try out my new toy. The EBS Mirobass II Preamp Pedal and my little Souncraft Compact 4 Mixer.

As far as Bass goes, Warwick $$ (Double Buck) with Warwick Black Label strings I believe, I might be wrong on that, I just changedthem to a set that I had that sounded newest.

The backing tracks were samples from Fruity Loops. Actually pretty cool. I did not have to spend a cent on the software side.

you need an account to soundclick, and if you have one at the top right corner of your webpage (must be logged on) there is a "band administration" button. click it and press add song. But also they only except mp3's no wav.s

Well unless LowSound is back by lets say Tuesday, I recon we should go ahead and do matchups after that date.

We just need to get somebody outside of the competition to do it though. A neutral party so to speak.
