Advice on music computer programs

hey
this may not be the right forum to post this in, but what are some good, straight forward and easy to use music computer programs (such as MIDI etc) for windows? i want to make similar tracks to the ones used in bands such as radiohead.

Reason, Cubase, Ableton Live, Cakewalk, etc. These are all expensive, but the internet has a way of making expensive software quite cheaper. ;)
