What would be a good grit to use for sanding the finish off of a guitar body?

low grit. 40-80. make sure you don't sand one area too much to where you make the wood uneven though.

if you mean for sanding it down to bare wood, start at about grit 36 and work your way up to about 1000.

Id reccommend going 60-100-150-220-400.

Low grit (40-80) is good for removing finishes and material. Make sure once you get just about through the finish, dont sand that area anymore with the low grit paper.

Once you have the finish just about off, switch to 100 grit.

Once the finish is gone, sand with the 150, 220 and 400, till the wood is nice and smooth.

try paint stripper, bro. I used this vile stuff called SuperStrip. It eats that paint right off.
