question about finishes

ok im thinking about recolouring a strat for a little project and was wondering how to get this finish.

i read that you need veneers to put onto the wood to get the grain effect but im not sure what to use to get that colour.

any1 help?

blue stain, then poly varnish over the top, the natural colour of the wood will create those dark and light patches.

flame maple + blue/green stain + clear finish.


it'd probably be difficult to get the wood on top of your strat unless you've had experience with laminating other things.
