Or is Heel Toe way to easy for people making such a big deal out of it.

You hit the pedal with your heel, the come down and hit it again with your toe. It's not that hard...

Most people can't do that too well though. I can't hit the footboard with my heel well, but i don't complain like a little bitch about it.

I can't either to be honest, but I mean, I can still do it, not repeatidly because I can't hit the footboard that well because my feet are big. But I mean, you can do it right, probably like me though, just not repeatidly.

People who have trouble with it are those with big feet.

I only have size 9-10 feet (one's bigger than the other :p), so I'm lucky in the fact I can do heel-toe with my foot fully on the board. HOWEVER, many people just don't have this luxury and must learn heel-toe without hitting with their heel. This isn't as easy, as you must master the motion moreso than the seperate hits.

Remember kids: heel-toe is a motion, not two seperate hits!

Well I basically hit it with my hell, and the board bounces up, hits my toe, and goes back down because my toe starts to move down. But it kills my heel since I have size 11.5

try doign heel toe with a size 12 foot. little bit harder than you think when playing on something with a small footboard such as 7000s which i have.

Well, that's why when I buy a new pedal, I'm making sure the footboard is big enough. And my feet are just a little smaller than yours.

most people dont realise its not all on the way your foot moves, its about the way your sitting and the way your body moves. some people might be able to do it if there sitting high, some if there sitting lower, maybe there foot is at a wierd angle, or there pedal isnt done up correctly.

Heh, I do it great with my 7002.

Like I said, though, average/smallish feet for me.

Styler... wtf are you getting on, man? Seriously. The only situation I can't do heel-toe is if the bass is stuffed funny.

^^ Totally uncalled for :P

I'm a size 11, so when I was doing heel-toe my socks kept getting covered in grease from my pedal's chain, and when I was barefoot it kind of hurt.

Luckily, my Janus Ergo pedals come with a strap drive :thumb:

This seems to be a huge misconception..
Having big feet does *NOT* make heel toe any harder.
I have size 14 feet, and I have no problem at all doing heel toe. And I can do it on any pedal, so its not just my pedals that I can do it with.

Yeah I agree with bob, I don't think the size of the foot matters, but what do I know...

Ok for the above users who claim they know how to do heel-toe, well sorry to burst your bubble, you dont..

You NEVER use the heel to press the footboard down. You make your foot parallel with the ground, i.e your toe is touching the footboard and your heel is drifting in the air about half an inche to an inche to the board (remember parallel with the ground). Now you move your whole foot downward, this is the down stroke, remember to stay parallel with the ground, than on the upstroke you press your toes down for the second stroke.

Concept of heel-toe is you can get two hit with one stroke.

Second time someone on mx has told me I dont know how to heel toe.
Whats wrong with you people.
Do I have to upload a video of me doing it or something? Jeez.

Haha, wow. The topic starter really does have a point. Why DO people make such a big deal out of heel toe?

Edit:
Uploaded this crappy old vid of some heel toe.

Yeah, ummmmm I do it in one stroke buddy.
You hit the footboard with your heel, and then bring your toe down.

It looks just like the way I heel toe. Amazing! It's just like I said, heel goes down, then toe goes down.
If you ask me, looks like 2 motions to me..

Foot size shouldn't matter. You can do heel-toe with your heel not even touching the footboard.

Wait... are you saying theres something wrong with the way I'm doing heel toe?
1. Does it honestly matter?
2. The way I'm doing it is the way JoJo Mayer does it, which I'm assuming would be similar to how that Derrick person does it (havint watched the vid yet, its taking awhile to download).
So, I dont see whats wrong with how I'm doing it.

And WTF is wrong with that person posting gay porn.
Report post doesint work???

I reported the gay pictures. Also, so people read this: FOOT SIZE DOESN'T MATTER WITH HEEL TOE!!!

You can do it with your heels not even touching the footboard.

I haven't put nearly enough time into heel-toe. I suppose I really should if I want to be able to drop my double pedals and use single all the time.

I remember about 6 months ago I started practising heel-toe to pull the fast, smooth doubles in Wickerman by Iron Maiden, I got there in the end and was really pleased, then I just let it go

I'll start again soon. But yeah TS, I think people do make a meal out of heel-toe, probably mainly because they want to be able to pump that right foot like Jojo. But many of the videos and explainations are very different from the technique Jojo is seen to use. I may be wrong, it's been a while since I watched the Jojo vid on youtube, but I don't recall seeing anything but the ball of his foot and his toes touching the pedal.

*Drools over Jojo*

It's not that hard. I'm a size 13, and I can do it. I'm using cheap Pearl P100TW pedals, too.
I don't even need to think about it, my foot just does it automatically when I need those fast doubles.

Can't do it with shoes, though. But I'm pretty much always drumming in socks anyway.

"heel" toe is just where you make the first hit by dropping the weight of your leg and having your foot stiff, so that your "heel" but more of the ball of your foot hits the pedal, and when you bring your leg back up you spring your ankle forward and hit again with your toe
no heel involved
