Since pretty much the first day I started playing, I've been using heel-up. I pretty much had no control with faster songs when I played heel-down, so I was completely cool with playing heel-up. But now all of sudden, I can't play heel-up and instead have to play heel-down. Suprisingly, I all of sudden also have complete control (if not better) using heel-down. Should I just keep using heel-down?
I don't understand why I all of sudden mess up so much playing heel-up. Is it that the pedal's getting worn out maybe? Should I stop playing for a day or two and see if it helps?
Any help would be appreciated =p

Yeah, take a break.
However, you should be able to play with both. Playing loud is great, but you shouldn't lose your quiet ability.
Honestly speaking, heel-down doesn't have much application besides acoustic gigs, jazz, ghosts, and other light playing.

Hey, i just had this problem like 3 months ago. I took a break and it didnt work, but i literally had to learn it all again. Instead of it taking like 8 months, it only took about 2. I came back to playing faster, more controlled, and better than i played before, dont give up on heep up.

That makes no sense. How can you all of sudden not be able to play heel-up. Maybe somone adjusted something on your set like your throne or something. I don't know but that doesn't seem right.

Maybe it was just a one day thing, I don't know lol. I didn't touch the pedal at all but I was playing almost like normal today. I'm still surprised at how comfortable I'm feeling when I try heel-down. But I'll still stick with heel-up I guess. Thanks for the help =0

Just use both. Make sure you aren't using heel up on one foot and heel down on the other though. It's a technique thing.

Why not?
I tend to use heel down on the hats, and heel up on the kick pedals.
Works for me.

Helps with balance.
It's more important on a double kick, though.
