Sorry if this thread has been made numerous times in the past.
I play guitar, bass, drums and some ukulele, and my girlfriend's a great singer who's going to start learning the keys. We're going shopping tonight for her first set of keys, I believe she has exactly $309 but she's not looking to blow it all tonight. Best keys within this price range please. Hopefully one that'll last a good long time.
Thanks!

Also if you'd like to just name some brands to look (out) for/Features to definitely (not) include. Maybe some minimum requirements?

It may be a little late to answer your question, but if not ill try to.
Casio is prefered by me as for beginner keyboards. Some things that you want to look for are MIDI, note benders, a large assortment of tones at least 100, and other features. Weighted keys are prefered, but that kicks the price alot. Sustain pedal output, line out, power jack, and battery capabilities are all things that should be on the keyboard.
You dont need a lot of the rythym tracks or the new begginer things, and a lot of the time the song books in the memory are lame, so dont be thrilled by small things. In your case if it does not have MIDI dont buy it, that is to say it will have jacks to connect to a computer. Because as a singer thats all she will care about when it comes to recording. If any live performance will be used with it, make sure the numbers and volume are easy to access.
