I recently joined a band called Horsepower who have been going for abour 4 years now.

They wrote and recorded two songs and I think the third song is a cover. These are from a year and a half ago so Horsepower has come a long way from then. I've heard some of the originals they were making when they had no drummer and they sound a lot better than these.

Just to let you know I'm the drummer. ;)

Here's our myspace:

edit: link fixed - enjoy!

The sound quality is pretty bad and the mixing is all over the place, these are really terribly done but just to give you a taster.

Please, by all means give your honest opinions :thumb:

Thanks a lot! Good to hear ;)

"For the most part"
Anything specific ie vocals/bass etc.
I know it's hard to say when it's not your type of music but if possible could you say.
(That sounds while cheeky but I'm trying not to be ;))

Thanks again. Anyone else?

take me home basically sounds like it would be a hit in the 90's if it had a little reworking. not enough vocals in the first verse. and it needs a chorus. the one you have seems more like a prechorus. and no solo at the end. i command you to make these changes

I agree that it sounds like a 90's song, but I really like it. The bass line sounds really interesting, and the vocals are pretty good.

I like the intro to the second a lot, and the song all together sounds good. Good guitar and bass lines and pretty good vocals again

Good Morning Seattle - I don't like the bass tone, or the vocals... soo ya, don't really like the song much at all.

If you were to re-master this (Take me Home):-

- Lead guitar down in the verses, seems to drown out all the other instruments.

- Add Compression! :)

- Add some reverb along with an EQ with plenty of lows to the bass drum. It sounds too flat and poppy.

There's plenty more but it's hard to tell what setup you used when recording, for example you might not have the right gear to be able to add effects to the kick drum as opposed to the whole kit.

And around 2:10 your drummer makes a slight mistake?

Otherwise sounding awesome! They are awesome songs :) But like you said the recording could be a bit better. But who has money these days for top quality recordings :(

Keep it up, doing a great job.
