I put new strings on and adjusted the trem so the bridge didn't pull out so far, but now I have another problem. When I play it, the strings hit up against the frets and rattle. Should I be adjusting the truss rod?

It depends.

Which frets does it do it on? Is it the first few frets that do it, is it higher up, or is it the whole fretboard?

If only the first few frets buzz, then it might be a truss rod problem. Your neck would be bowed back too far. If the whole board, or just higher up on the board, buzzes, chances are you can just adjust your action a little bit, and itll all go away.

it rattles high up on the board. How would I go about adjusting it?

Depending on the exact bridge you have, youll either want to raise the trem pivot-posts (the 2 posts the trem moves on), or raise the bridge saddles (theres usually 1 or 2 threaded rods holding the saddle up. They take a small allen wrench, and spin to raise the saddle up or down).
