what are your favorite fast paced bass intros? preferably punk, but whatever is cool, post here.

i like "last one out of liberty city" by less than jake. not overly technical, but it gets the blood pumping.

Angry Young and Poor by Anti-Flag is a good one, but Bath of Least Resistance by NOFX would be my favorite fast-paced punk bass intro.

Walking Away by Catch 22. Nice and jazzy intro.
Funny Papers by Mu330. Craziness.

Anything by Black Flag.

Six Pack has an AWESOME distorted bass intro, and nice tone as well.

EDIT: Just a hunch, but I think jc will agree.

I always liked the start to Strung Out's "Firecracker". Cemetary is good too, but not really fast I guess. oh, and "see her pee' by NOFX - not fast, but just fits really well and sounds sweet as

The intro to Like The Angel by Rise Against is damn fun to play. And yeah, Last One Out Of Liberty City immediately came to mind when I saw this thread.

EDIT: Also, a mellow bass intro that leads into a fast paced song: ASAOK by Less Than Jake

omganotheredit: Another song that's simple, but still fun to play is Kursk by A Wilhelm Scream. The first part of the intro, anyway. It's not all bass, but the bass sticks out more than anything at the beginning. Plus, their bassist has a killer tone. Stingrays = secks.

"The Decline" NoFx is an awesome song period. it's actually extremely easy to play and memorize, even though it's 18 minutes long and filled with bass solos. but good luck finding 2 guitarists (and a trumpet if you're a nofx purist) who can keep up.

also, if you can find a nice keyboard intro, maybe you should transcribe it for a bass.

You definitely should get one. Their first album, Ink Complete is just crazy. The bass on that album I think is amazing everywhere (My personal favorite is To Counter And Groove in E minor).

EVERYBODY CHECK OUT SPASTIC INK!!! You'll be glad you did!

Anyways, some of my favorite bass intros

Higher Ground - RHCP

Around the World - RHCP

Panic Attack - Dream Theater

From Whom the Bell Tolls - Metallica

Peace Sells - Megadeth

Five Magics - Megadeth

The Drapery Falls - Opeth (i love how the melody in the beginning is bass)

I can't think of any more at the moment, but there are alot that I didn't mention.

I'm almost certain that he played a Stingray, but I'm not sure of what his rig was. The new bassist used a Stingray when I've seen them play in the past.
