I'm looking for some flatwound (or maybe half wound) strings for a 5-string bass but in jazz tuning, so E-A-D-G-C istead of the low B... But when I asked at my local music store for it (6-string flatwound package) they said that they aren't made or something... So do you guys know where I can get some?

most people buy 6 string sets and throw or keep the B string because 5 string E-C sets are quite uncommon

Hmm yes I heard about that, but my music stores also haven't got 6 string packages...

Order them online.

Try www.juststrings.com, if it's not on there, I'm sure they don't exist.

By the way, it's tenor tuning, not jazz tuning.

whoo, thanks! That really helps, I think my store sells Rotosound so maybe they can order 'm!
Just one more question, that (nylon) tapewound, does that mean they give a softer signal to the pickups (as in less metal? Don't know much about it)?

edit: Does tru-bass mean it can only be used on a string-tru bass?

I think you may have gotten your wires crossed! Im not sure what tru-bass strings, but as far as I know there arent any strings made specifically for string - thru basses :thumb:

It might be easier to order them yourself, I think shipping in the states and Canada is about $7 on that site.

I think tru-bass just means they are bassier sounding strings. I don't think it has anything to do with how you string it.

Idk if Fender makes a 6 string flat wound set, but Fender flats are the best I've ever played.
