I'm planning on buying a new bass
but I don't know what to buy?
I like to play rock, I'm in a rockband
and that is my main musicstyle(I also like jazz, or metal, but not as much as rock'n'roll).
I have a budget of 500-600euros (=628.529 USD - 754.234 USD =
345.247 GBP - 414.320 GBP = 857.956 AUD - 1,029.55 AUD).
Any suggestions?
(I first thought about buying a fender P-bass but I don't know if I want that)

Best thing to do is just trying as many different basses as you can, take your time, don't make a hasty decision. Then go for the one YOU liked best.
Happy hunting :thumb:

EDIT:  You're from Belgium too!!! I've never seen any other Belgians on MX. You should go try out basses at Piens Music Shop in Deinze, they probably are the biggest shop in the country. But don't buy anything there!!! Their prices are way too high.

your best bet is to go to a music store and try every bass in your price range. Find one that has a tone you want and has the comfort and playability that you like.

What these guys said /\ A fender Jazz or Precision would be good.
Probably the Jazz as it's versatile enough to play music in those other genres.

I'd say either a Jazz or a Precision Special.

Look. Here's the deal.

There are tons of bass manufacturers. A whoooooole lot.

There is no "magic bass" in your price range. There are probably tons of excellent basses. Even if you narrow your genre, there's still an extraordinarily large amount of quality basses, each of which has a usable tone and acceptable playability. Go try some. Find one you like.

Then you buy it.

well yeah, but I was just asking, maybe somebody had a special brand to advise that I could try out, or a brand that really sucks
I could look out for it, I wouldn't fully base my opinion on it but still...

ps: piens sucks, okay, it's a big store, but their prices, NO way!

like said before, play everything you can at a music store. You might like a Jazz bass though.

you can't go wrong with a P-bass or J-bass, but i'd also try and find either an OLP music man copy or maybe a used Stingray.

schecter, fender and ibanez are the brands that come to mind, also are you looking for a four string or 5+, it may seem like a lame question do to the fact that you play mainly rock, but meh, you never know...
