I already made a post about the fact that im going to buy a bass for around 700 $. but now im not sure about strings. Currently i use a six string and a really cheap 4 string for slapping. I noticed that i suck horribly slapping on a six string, so it probably wont be much different on a 5 string, but i also noticed that i finger pick alot worse on a 4 string. i dont know what to do....

If you already have two basses, what is the point of buying another cheep bass that is only $700? I say save up and play a lot of basses in the process, that way you will be able to buy a nice bass and you will have the oppurtunity to find out what you want.

You can get a nice bass for $700. My friend just picked up a Peavey Cirrus BXP 5 string with the bubinga top for $699. It's an amazing instrument.

Those are nice basses, but I mean a REALLY nice bass. You can get a lot for say $1500 if you are willing to go used.

for 1. i live in the middle of nowhere, theres no place to try out basses around here. and 2. when i said cheap i meant 130$. and 3. im not willing to spend much over 700 dollars for an instrument, not right now anyways.

I got my American Fender Jazz for $750. I'd say upgrade your four string to something you'll really love playing.

Sell your current basses, and pool that money with your $700 and get 1 half decent bass that you relaly like.

yeah, just practice your slapping. In my, albeit little, experience, if you're good at slapping on a 4 string but bad on a 5 or 6, your technique is a bit sloppy anyways. If you practice and tighten it up you shouldnt have any trouble

get a 6 string with a wider string spacing. i can barley slap on my 6 string either because the spaceins so small, i have tried on other 6ers though and been fine. next bass i gets gona have slightley wider spacing.
