Can some more people please look at this thread, and proceed to critique and vote for a song. I worked for a long time on this track, and was hoping for some more feedback on it.

Manticore: Cool song, you can definietly hear you put a lot of effort into it. I liked the sort of arabesque feeling it has going on.
The main bass riff would have sound better (IMO) had it been played on a fretted bass, with a little more staccato feel to it to give it more groove. I don't know if I made myself clear, but try to imagine Steffan Lessard playing that song. Besides, there where some intonation problems.
Atomicant: Really like the way you started out the song. You have some nice ideas in there, but it does sound very improvised and there are some places where you get heavily out of time. Your tone was pretty good.
My vote goes to Manticore.

Manticore - I'm going to echo a lot of what niskass said. Good song, I can tell you spent time with it, but there were intonation problems in the fretless lead. You should work on your rhythm and groove sense more - it was written well enough, but didn't mesh or groove with the drums enough for my taste. Your improvising was also too noodly. My advice when improvising is to "hear" what you want to play before you play it. Never rely on random playing over a scale to improvise, it'll sound like crap and won't be music. Listen to melodic improvisers like Miles Davis on his album Kind of Blue. He builds his solo in such a way that he gives short, but very poignant musical and melodic fragments that the laymen can remember and hum later after just one listen.
Just my little bit of critique/2 cents
Atomicant - Tapping for the sake of tapping doesn't jive with me. Your beginning riff was a good start, but when you you start playing real fast it goes completely out of time and theres no really rhyme or reason for it. It gets muddled, and its kinda sloppy. The piece also doesn't really go anywhere - I would have gone to a different riff based upon a different chord progression, maybe something that wasn't tapped to change it up a bit. I'm not sure the distortion really worked to your advantage.
My vote - Manticore.
Now stop bugging us to comment. :p

^lol yeah sorry about that, but I was just hoping for some feedback, which I got.
Edit: Does anyone know of any drum programs I can use on my mac to program beats? A lot of the beats I can make with my hands I can't find or get in Garage Band. Pretty much anything outside of 4/4 things.
