well I've been teaching piano since about half way through term 1, (which was about 17 weeks ago) and I want to get some sight reading and ear test books, as well as just books with good piano solos. I want something for a range of levels, so for sight reading Im thinking of something like the trinity series, which has one book for grades i - 4 i think.
Anyway, mainly for a book of easy, fun piano solos with a wide range of styles, what are some ideas? I know theres heaps of jazz, rags and blues books out there, but i was looking for something with a wide range of styles, (so i dont have to spend as much money :P)
a range of levels would be good, like grade 1 - 3, but a book just at a grade 3 or 4 level would be ok too. Modern stuff though, cause i have trinity exam books in most grades, and (mainly with the higher grades) im not taht bigger fan.

wow i crap on. Ok I've thought about it some more and figured out what I want to say.
I like the trinity sight reading books, so I'll get those + i can mix some of my other learner books together.
I'm looking for a book of piano solos with a variety of styles and lower levels,(grades 1-4 sort of thing). Any suggestions? and please if you know it can i have the name of teh book, composer/arranger and publisher and any other info you may have to make it easier for me to find.
thanks

do they have lots of good solos or are they lots of easy, boring pieces?

you start really easy with very very basic songs progressing to songs along the lines of fur elise and guige( spelling?) you dont get into very technical pieces but it leys great foundation and basic technique to progress from there.

sounds good & i've looked them up; but i have a good teaching course - i was more looking for some books to "add to their repotoire" sorta thing - with lots of easy piano solos of a varying level in them. just something that makes you feel like your actually playing a REAL piece, not like 'cdcd this is fun-o' kind of thing.

Maybe some Aebersold play-along books.
