View Full Version : Rate Lists?
I won't necessarily be able to do this until after vacation, but I wanted to know your thoughts.
Should you be able to rate music lists (1-5), so that we can display 'top music lists' or something or other? Personall, I'm a little bit against the idea since the lists are a reflection of personal taste. But I'm trying to think of ways to better integrate lists - they are a really cool and addictive feature. Right now they are linked from band and album pages, but what about people who come out with weekly lists? What I'm Listening to, etc, or the top 100 albums of 2005, or some other huge project. Is there a way to make them not solely a matter of a profile option?
Note: After vaca I will also enable editing of lists

I don't know about rating, it could be pretty cool though.

I don't think it would have any major benefits. If anything, it would just piss people off when they get a low rating.

It's hard to decide. I'm not really sure.

I don't see the point in rating lists, since they're highly personal.
Things like top 100 albums of the 90s should get attention in some way, though. Maybe try and feature it.

Don't even bother with it.

Ya, it might just create arguments and stuff.

As you said yourself, lists reflect personal taste. People would rate taste then, and that's always an edgy thing. I'm against it

You could just make it so that the person making the list has the option of allowing a rating or not.

no, 'cause if I've learned anything since I joined mx, its that most people don't like lists. Some band is always left out or overrated or underrated yadda yadda yadda. Adding ratings is just adding fuel to the fire.

I think it's a good idea in terms of compiling most talked about albums or more listed albums, but I think we need more obvious connections from the sputnik home page to this subforum. Maybe this means integration of this subforum into the main sputnik page or just links along the lines of "Vote for Your Favorite Albums of the 90s here" but I feel like there need to be more front page prompts for important items.

I say no for reasons already given.
I agree with what DFelon says too when talking about further integration of the community forum and the site.

EDIT: There should be a prompt to join the newsletter on the sputnik frontpage and an easy form one can fill out.
This is more of the same thing along the line of front page prompts. Have not just a music news section, but a site news section where you can get updates about newletters and Top Album polls etc.. Integration of all parts of the site onto the sputnik front page. I think the front page should be like a hub for the whole site. But that's an issue for another thread, another day.
